Yamaha NS-AW150W Review 2024Buyer’s Guide and Information

In this Yamaha NS-AW150WH 2-Way Indoor/Outdoor Speakers Review, we will be looking at a pair of compact bookshelf speakers available on the market. Like many bookshelf speakers, they are designed to stay in one place and pump out a respectable level of sound, but not enough to run a night club.

Bookshelf speakers are pretty simple compared to a lot of the alternative types of speakers available. They are also some of the most reliable and time-tested options. Because they never really move anywhere, their wires don’t tend to become old, frayed and broken, and their internal components don’t get worn out by repetitive shock.

If you’re looking for a pair of speakers which you’re not going to move around and really only want to plug into your PC or laptop, then bookshelf speakers are the way to go. And if you’re going to go with bookshelf speakers, then the Yamaha NS-AW150WH is one of the better options out there.

Yamaha NS-AW150W

Yamaha NS-AW150WH are the less weight speakers. The speakers do offer a little more than their fully portable counterparts. They have a maximum power capability of 150 watts. Its manage to cover a fairly broad frequency spectrum (80 to 40,000 Hz).

Because these are not portable, and so have the ability to be a little bit bigger, you are probably going to expect a few extra capabilities out of them – and rightly so. You might be looking for louder volume capabilities, increased frequency coverage (so your music sounds more balanced) or better enclosures to reduce feedback.

Regarding the design, they will probably sit in the same place for long periods of time. This means aiming for a design which is going to blend in and not stick out too much. Moreover, for a pair of bookshelf speakers, you are going to want a pair which has a certain weight to them. This does not mean they are incredibly heavy, but you are going to want to be able to feel that you are holding something in your hand and they aren’t going to be blown over by a strong wind.

Yamaha NS-AW150W Product Overview

To begin, the Yamaha NS-AW150WH are not the heaviest speakers available, but they can be mounted. This means that you are unlikely to have problems with these speakers falling and being damaged. The light weight also means that if you were to take them outside, it wouldn’t be too hard.

Secondly, the speakers do offer a little more than their fully portable counterparts. They have a maximum power capability of 150 watts. This is pretty impressive for their size and means you can probably get decent quality as you go towards the louder volume levels.

The Yamaha NS-AW150WH also manage to cover a fairly broad frequency spectrum (80 to 40,000 Hz). This means that music is going to sound much more balanced and it is not going to be missing the highs or the lows. Some speakers don’t manage to cover this breadth, so it really is an advantage with these when compared to other bookshelf speakers.

The Yamaha NS-AW150WH also manages to impress with its enclosures. By using sealed acoustic suspension cabinets, the speakers themselves are both weatherproof and able to stand up to dust and dirt. This can be especially problematic for other speakers; for example, when dust or dirt gets inside and ruins the quality of sound produced by covering or coating the speaker cone.

Yamaha NS-AW150W Pros and Cons

Pros

Reliable – Just like all bookshelf speakers, these are incredibly reliable. They are designed to last for a long period of time.

Enclosure – The sealed enclosures are weatherproof, which means these speakers are able to withstand dust build up and bad weather conditions. Moreover, because they make use of acoustic suspension cabinets, no dirt or dust is going to make it onto the speaker cones to ruin their bass output.

Cons

Design- they aren’t designed to be the most beautiful speakers in the world. Their white color might not appeal to most and the housing is going to take up a lot of room.

Waterproof? Not so much – The design specifications state that these can be kept outside. Whilst this would be fine on a nice and warm day, they are not really designed to stand up to heavy rain. These really do belong more on a bookshelf than next to a tree. If you do decide to mount them outside, make sure to keep them under something so they aren’t being directly hit by the rain.

This Yamaha NS-AW150WH 2-Way Indoor/Outdoor Speakers review has shown that the Yamaha NS-AW150WH is a decent pair of speakers. They are reliable and produce a good quality of sound for their size. Their design means you are probably not going to be moving them around, but you won’t really want to show these off. If you are looking for something a little more stylish and portable, then it might be a good idea to look at Bluetooth speakers. However, if you just want a reliable pair of speakers for using in the home, then these definitely wouldn’t be the worst option to go with.
