Tech-Life Beat Block Review 2024
Expert Opinion And Buying Guide

Some people listen to audiobooks, some listen to refined classical music and others listen to beats. A beat is heavy, a beat is pronounced, a beat leaves its mark. That is what Tech-Life’s BeatBlock does; it leaves a mark.

Here I offer a review of the speakers and why you should invest in a set yourself. Whilst the BeatBlock doesn’t pull away from the crowd in several areas, it does manage to remain a rugged and reliable option.

What We Looked For In The Beat Block

So what should a good pair of portable bluetooth speakers offer you? Well, first and foremost, they should probably offer portability. With the invention of Bluetooth meaning we are not confined to staying in one place, portability would seem to be one of the most important options. Portability comes with size and weight, so investing in a lighter and smaller set is going to get you a lot further than lugging a boulder around.

However, you are still going to need power. So where do you get the power from? Well, if you are on the move, that’s going to have to be from a battery. Basically, you are going to need a good battery life. A good battery should last you at least 8 hours, anything longer and you will probably find yourself in a place you can plug in and charge.

Portability isn’t all about size, weight and battery life though. Because you are going to be taking your speakers around with you, you are going to need to make sure that they don’t fall apart; you are going to want to make sure that they are rugged and reliable. For portable speakers it’s best to buy something which can stand up to both water and the occasional hit.

Beat Block Product Overview

Firstly, Tech-Life’s BeatBlock doesn’t pull any surprises with it shape; it is shaped like a block. This is a common design for portable speakers recently, and other brands like Jabra and JBL have also been designing their speakers in a similar way. What is great about the BeatBlock is that it comes coated with a bouncy layer of rubber. This rubber serves two functions. One, it stops the speakers from sustaining too much damage if they hit something and two, it feels much better in your hands.

Regarding durability, the BeatBox is incredibly durable. It can stand up to showers and rain and a host of other weather conditions. However, it is not submergible, so don’t think about throwing it in the swimming pool.

The speakers come in at 6.5 inches wide, 1.8 inches tall and 2.5 inches deep. This is pretty small, but it’s not the smallest you are going to see available. If you want something really small you are going to need to look elsewhere. The reason these speakers are a bit bigger is because of the protective coating. However, if you are looking for durability these are definitely for you.

Moving into the sound output itself, the speakers manage to pack a pretty decent punch. The sound quality is very clear as well, and it manages to stay that way even when using higher volumes.

The battery life on this model is pretty good. It can last up to 10 hours and can then be easily recharged with the USB cable. Unless you are planning on playing music for days on end in the middle of no-where with no source of power, this is more than enough battery life for the average user.

Pros And Cons Of The Beat Block

  • Build quality – the speakers do have excellent build quality. The rubber top layer makes it feel steady and comfortable.
  • Battery life – 10 hours is more than enough and means that these speakers are going to last in nearly any situation.
  • Design - I am disappointed in the shape the BeatBlock has been made in, but it more than makes up for this with the rubber coating. Unfortunately, it does not have the widest range of colour options available.
  • Weight – weighing in at 9.6 ounces, these speakers a little heavier than some of the alternatives in the market.

Final Verdict On The Beat Block

The Beat Block (wireless speaker) is a great option if you want reliability. If the speakers you have bought in the past have suffered from continually not being strong enough to stand up to the test of time, these speakers are probably an example of what you are looking for. However, if you are only after the smallest and lightest speakers available, you probably want to look elsewhere.

Overall, Tech-Life have produce a great produce here, and they are definitely still a portable option with brilliant sound quality
