Steingberg sells a range of audio hardware including audio interfaces. One of the best audio interfaces on the market right now is the Steinberg UR44.
An audio interface is an essential part of your set up if you want to do professional recordings. The sound cards built into laptops, computers, and tablets are only suitable for very basic recordings. Audio interfaces provide a high quality sound for voice and instrument recordings.
What We Looked For In The Steinberg UR44
There are a few key features that any great interface must have.
Audio Quality
The whole reason to buy an audio interface is to record better quality audio, so it needs to deliver pristine sound with no buzzing sounds. The inputs need to be high quality to allow for the best sound.
Low Latency
One of the most annoying things for recording musicians to deal with is when there is delay between what they are recording and what is being played back to them through their headphones. This makes it almost impossible to concentrate while recording. A great interface will have little to no latency to allow for the best recording experience.
Allows For Versatility
A great interface will have enough inputs and outputs to allow you to connect multiple microphones and instruments at the same time. This is especially important if you are recording a band. It will also have different types of connections to allow for versatility.
Cost Effective
Audio interfaces range greatly in price from very affordable to pretty pricey. This is because of the different features they offer. Whichever interface you choose should give you the best bang for your buck without compromising when it comes to quality.
Durable
Interfaces often get thrown into bags to take to the studio or on the road, so a great one needs to be durably made to withstand those conditions. The casing should be strong and rugged. The inputs, buttons, and knobs need to be well made and durable.
